Drill 3: Normal Grip (stop at contact)
Speed:
Take a normal grip with both hands on the lower grip of the bat and take a full
swing (keeping top elbow close to body). The slide will move freely from the
handgrip striking the bat head causing an audible reaction to the swing at the
point of impact. This audible reaction identifies when your bat speed is
maximized in relation to contact on the barrel of the bat. If the audible
"click" occurs prior to the ideal point of contact, you haven't kept your hands
inside the ball. Perform 10 times. |

Drill 4: Normal Grip (full swing)
Speed:
Repeat normal grip Drill #3 but swing the bat all the way around for a full
swing. The audible response will occur over the plate. Perform 10 times. |
|
Drill 5: Normal Grip (soft toss)
Speed:
Repeat normal grip Drill #3 and have someone soft toss a training ball in the
strike zone over the plate. The slide will hit the bat head at the point of
contact with the training ball. The bat swing stops at the plate. Perform 10
times. |
|
Drill 6: Normal Grip Soft Toss (full swing)
Speed:
Repeat normal grip Drill #5. The slide will hit the bat head at the point of
contact with the training ball. The "click" should happen just before contact.
The bat then follows thru with a full swing. Perform 10 times. |
