Hinsdale Historical Society

For more than thirty years, the Hinsdale Historical Society has been devoted to collecting, preserving and promoting the history of Hinsdale. The Society is an active group of dedicated citizens, who are committed to local historic preservation. The Society is the home of Hinsdale’s history.

The archives and collections contain a multitude of photos, oral histories, documents and artifacts that share the story of Hinsdale. The Hinsdale Historical Society has preserved and is maintaining three historic properties in the Village:

  • The Hinsdale History Museum, housed in an 1874 Italianate-style home
  • The R. Harold Zook Home and Studio, a unique cottage designed and built in 1924 by the prominent local architect
  • Immanuel Hall, a simple, carpenter Gothic style frame church built by local residents in 1900

Besides the three historic properties, the Society recently opened the Roger and Ruth Anderson Architecture Center, located in the lower level of Immanuel Hall, which serves as an architectural resource for the Village and beyond. The preservation of these three properties and the Anderson Architecture Center, as well as the extensive archival treasures that the Society cares for are evidence of the dedication and commitment the Society brings to Hinsdale history.
